Before you queue
RoChess! is rated chess on Roblox. The experience page lists 9 time controls, Game Review with accuracy plus brilliant moves and blunders, more than 1,300 rated puzzles, an Analysis Board with a live engine, 19 bots from Beginner to Master powered by the Vortex chess engine, recognition of more than 3,800 openings, and leaderboards for Bullet, Blitz, Rapid, and Puzzles. Voice chat and camera are not supported. Server size is listed as 50.
You need a Roblox account. The game is free to launch. A code is not required to play.
First session
- Open the official experience and join a server.
- Leave rated matchmaking for later. Choose a bot on the easy end of the Beginner-to-Master range.
- Play White or Black as the game assigns. White moves first.
- Select one of your pieces, then select a destination. Guides to the current interface say legal squares are highlighted, captured pieces are shown, a marker shows whose turn it is, and check is indicated when a king is attacked.
- If a square is not offered, that move is not legal. A move that leaves your own king in check is not legal.
- Finish the game. Then open Game Review before you start another one.
What to ignore on game one
Do not start on a Master bot. The developer tip is to begin easy and work upward. Do not spend the first game hunting a long opening line. Develop pieces, keep the king safe, and notice pieces that are unprotected.
Rated games and the faster leaderboards punish slow input. Use a bot until selecting a piece and a square feels automatic. The nine clocks are real, but their exact times are not published on the experience description.
When the first game is done
Read the piece guide if a move surprised you. Use a few puzzles before the next rated queue. If you want the community Token reward, redeem GROUPCODE from Shop, then Codes, after you have joined the 1 Elo Chess community.
The group owner has also posted that an anticheat system is fully rolled out. Play the moves yourself.
